The excellent run came to a end today due in no small part to two defensive howlers and an inspired goal keeping performance from the Grantham Number 1.
Must admit I was confident we would win this game after the first 45 but as usual slightly worried we hadn't been more clinical in front of goal and wondered if some gilt edge chances missed would return and bite us on the backside - today they did.
Fair play to Grantham for taking advantage of errors in the back but we shouldn't be seeing that from this team and its safe to say I'm certain we will learn from those costly errors with 2 games remaining before the play off's.
2nd half we huffed and puffed but lacked shape and the ability to open the door to Granthams defence, we punted the ball in the air far too many times (it doesn't work for us at the best of times but against a defence that seemed to handle this with ease it was a waste of time), when we did get through the keeper pulled off some great saves.
At the end I think we was two at the back as we throw everything forward but it wasn't to be and the unbeaten run ended.
No time to dwell as a tough fixture to Skem is coming up and its now time for a new run to begin, everyone was gutted today with the loss and hopefully that will drive us on to get the required results via the play offs as this bunch of players are more than capable of beating anyone in this division when we play to our abilities.

Re: Grantham (H)

We messed up today. What's worse is Chorley drew and had we won, we'd be 2 points from the top of the league.
Grantham dictated the play today. Fylde had a habit of hoofing the ball but anyone around the ground could see that Grantham were winning every ball in the air. We played the game to suit Grantham. Andy Russell conceded 2 sloppy goals and which cost us the game.

On another note, we were on a 23 game unbeaten run and any other league, we'd be top. Let's win the next two games and the playoffs. Keep the ball on the FLOOR, pass and kill! Don't fall into the habit of hoofing. Let's start again!

Re: Grantham (H)

Yeah exactly, we've been on an excellent run, the defeat had to happen at some point. Better now than in the playoffs. Would like us to have Richie, Lloyd and Barnes on the pitch at the same time. Maybe give Richie a free role behind the striker. All 3 of them terrify defenders.

Playoffs it is
